Nas Vs Fox

Here are some videos of Nas’ protest outside Fox News 23/07/08. He attempted to drop off a petition with over 600,000 signatures demanding that Fox ends their racist ways.

Got to give it up to Nas for standing up to the racism and propaganda of Fox news. More artists need to be using there position to speak up. To many artists are happy to pump out the same tune knowing the system is fucked, stand up, stand up. Minus the album plug which we forgive you for, a job well done Mr Nas!!

erm, that’s not quite right…

I just read an article on Wired.com’s very informative blog about a new service for artists wishing to use Radiohead’s ‘in Rainbows’ method of selling/distributing their music. NoiseTrade.

Bands looking to copy Radiohead’s pricing optional music sales plan have a new option in NoiseTrade, which handles all the required back-end stuff that Radiohead handled in-house so that bands can concentrate on the important stuff, like recording songs and updating their web presences. the flash is back…

It’s almost been a week since my last post, forgive my looseness, I have a good excuse, I’ve been collating the latest Kowtow compilation CD. This one has been no different, hard work, but the results are worth it and I think this is the best one yet, anyway don’t want to give too much away cause it’s a few months away from being available.

We’ve got a couple of big names to give some unity to the whole thing but we’ve also got a load of new artists and some returning contributers to boot. We’ve got contributors from Japan, Australia, America and of course little ole EnZee.

Keep your ear’s pealed ; )

Net Neutrality

Save the Internet | Rock the Vote

There is a panic happening in the corporate world, this panic is centered around the internet and the organism that we’ve helped to create. It has changed the way we communicate, it has changed the way we assimilate and share media! Continue reading ‘Net Neutrality’

Back to Back Bjork

All children under 11 should have to listen to all of Bjork’s music non-stop on rotation for two weeks without any sleep. I think the world would be a better place, and a lot freakier, oh yea…

Last.fm to pay royalties to unsigned artists

O.K. I’ve been hesitant to get into the whole last.fm thing, mainly because there’s only so much ‘internet energy’ you can spread around right, checking myspace, writing blogs, checking blogs, facebook etc etc, it all takes a lot of time. But I know a lot of people who use it and say good stuff about it… but I never really got it…

Anyway last.fm have just announced they will be paying royalties to unsigned artists for every play that they get on last.fm, sounds awesome. Now the actual figure is very low… very very very low, we’re talking 0.0005c per play, that’s low right. So to put that into the perspective, Coldplay had the most amount of plays in the week ending 6th July, 150,000 , now if they were to get a consistant amount of hits throughout the year let’s say 7,800,000, they would get a cheque for $3.900. You’re not going to get rich quick…
