Organic Cotton?

Kowtow is Certified Organic by the Control Union Group

The World Health Organisation estimates that 20,000 people a year die in developing countries from pesticide poisoning, and a further 3 million people suffer chronic health problems. This is one of the reasons why Kowtow is certified organic by the Control Union Group, an independent certifying agency located in the Netherlands.

Our cotton is grown using non-genetically modified seeds meaning our farmers do not get into a cycle of debt with big corporations for expensive seed and pesticide purchase.

Our farmers use sustainable practices like like crop-rotation, hand-farming and botanical pest control. This keeps soil enriched and healthy so it requires fewer external applications and treatments.

Our cotton is processed and low-impact dyed as per international organic standards. Strict testing is conducted to ensure the absence of hazardous elements like nickel, lead, formaldehyde, amines, pesticides and heavy metals.

This simply means that our products adhere to Control Union Group standards for not only cotton growing, but also processing (e.g. pre-treatment, washing, bleaching, dyeing, waste treatment, finishing) to provide a completely environmental product.
